Zerbe To Attend Pilchuck Glass School Workshop 2025: Placemaking
I am so pleased to announce I have been accepted into Pilchuck Glass School’s 2025 Workshop Session: Placemaking from June 20th to July 1 2025. I will be attending the “Glass and Print: Translation and Transformation” workshop lead by renowned artist Jeffrey Sarmiento.
A Filipino-American artist, Jeffrey Sarmiento investigates transnational cultural identity through his works that combine the image and object, realised through analog and digital fabrication in printed and kiln-formed glass. He is currently based in Canberra where he is Head of Glass at the Australian National University.
Workshop Description:
Our point of departure is the interface between analogue and digital making in glass. We will consider different ways we can take glass from the 2D image to the 3D form and vice versa. It will be a quick sprint through elements of screen printing, kiln-forming, water jet cutting, and glassblowing! We hope to discover what is possible in the crossovers.
I am beyond excited for this opportunity. Pilchuck is one of the most prestigious glass schools in the world, and some of the best names in contemporary glass art have worked, taught, and learned there. I look forward to diving into this workshop and seeing where these new approaches and techniques can take my art practice moving forward.
